🏛️ Overview of the Foundation

The Dhyansport Institute of Sports & Physical Education Research is the academic and research arm of the DhyanSport Sports & Physical Education Foundation, a Section 8 non-profit organization registered under the Companies Act, 2013.

Established with a vision to transform the landscape of sports education and wellness in India, the Foundation serves as the backbone for institutional initiatives that bridge traditional physical culture with modern sports science. It is committed to promoting inclusive education, scientific research, professional training, and community outreach across diverse domains such as physical education, fitness, rural sports, and allied health sciences.

Key highlights of the Foundation include:
  • Publishing the Indian Journal of Sports Studies (ISSN 2229-3558)—a national platform for scholarly dialogue in sports and physical education.
  • Managing two professional societies:
    • The Indian Society of Sports Scientists, dedicated to research, training, and academic collaboration.
    • The Indian Association of Sports Anthropometry, focusing on human measurement, biomechanics, and indigenous physical practices.
  • Running academic programs and training modules through the Institute in partnership with recognized bodies like NCTE, NSDC, UGC, SAI, and Khelo India.
  • Supporting community-based outreach and grassroots development, especially in rural and underserved regions.

The Foundation is driven by the legacy and values of its Director, Dr. Tushar Dhar Shukla, who established this initiative as a tribute to his father and as a lifelong commitment to the betterment of society through physical education.

🧾 Chairperson’s Message

Dear Colleagues, Students, and Friends,

It gives me immense pride and a deep sense of responsibility to serve as the Chairperson of the DhyanSport Sports & Physical Education Foundation. This Foundation was established with a profound vision—to transform the landscape of sports science, physical education, wellness, and indigenous games in India through education, research, and community outreach.

The Dhyansport Institute of Sports & Physical Education Research, operating under the Foundation, is a realization of that vision. It is not merely an academic institution, but a dynamic platform for empowering youth, educators, athletes, and scholars with knowledge, skills, and values rooted in both science and tradition.

This journey is a personal tribute to my late father, whose belief in education, discipline, and public service continues to guide my every step. Through this Foundation, we honor his legacy by promoting physical literacy, fostering innovation, and reaching the unreached—especially in rural and underserved communities.

Our initiatives include:

  • Offering nationally recognized academic programs and certifications;
  • Publishing the Indian Journal of Sports Studies (ISSN 2229-3558) to promote scientific dialogue;
  • Nurturing professional societies like the Indian Society of Sports Scientists and the Indian Association of Sports Anthropometry;
  • Partnering with institutions, government bodies, and global networks for knowledge exchange and real impact.

As we move forward, I invite each of you—students, educators, researchers, and changemakers—to join us in building a healthier, stronger, and more equitable society through the power of sports and physical education.

Let us work together with purpose, passion, and perseverance.

Warm regards,
Dr. Tushar Dhar Shukla
Chairperson
DhyanSport Sports & Physical Education Foundation
